Knauf Ceiling Rolls (Combi-cut/Uncut)

Knauf Insulation Ceiling Rolls (Combi-cut) are Glass Mineral Wool rolls, designed for use in cold lofts where pitched roofs are insulated at ceiling level.

They are non-combustible with the best possible Euroclass A1 reaction to fire classification, and are manufactured using Knauf Insulation’s unique bio-based binder, ECOSE® Technology.

Knauf Ceiling Rolls are available in 2 different product formats: combi-cut and un-cut.

Combi-cut ceiling rolls have partially cut perforations allowing ease of separation into roll widths to suit joist centres at either 750mm or 600mm without having to measure or use tools.

Un-cut ceiling rolls are 1200mm wide offering the installer the flexibility to cut to the desired width.

Advanced compression packaging technology ensures you get more insulation per pack, saving on transportation costs, storage space and reducing the amount of handling.

Combi-cut ceiling rolls:

  • Have partially cut perforations allowing ease of separation into roll widths to suit joist centres at either 750mm or 600mm without having to measure or use tools.
  • 750mm joist centres are installed using 1 x 800mm or 2 x 400mm widths.
  • Combi-cut ceiling rolls can be used unsplit as full 1200mm widths.

Un-cut ceiling rolls:

  • 1200mm wide offering the installer the flexibility to cut to the desired width.

The installation of both the combo-cut or un-cut ceiling rolls will assist in reducing energy consumption, saving you main. They reduce heat gain during the day and heat loss in the evening.

Durability

Ceiling Rolls (Loft Rolls) are odourless, rot proof, non-hygroscopic, do not sustain vermin and will not encourage the growth of fungi, mould or bacteria.

Application

Ceiling Roll (Loft Roll) is primarily used for the thermal insulation of pitched roofs at ceiling level. When used at ceiling level it is usually laid in one or two layers, with the first layer between the joists and the second layer over and at right angles to the joists.

Standards

Ceiling Roll (Loft Roll) is manufactured in accordance with BS EN 13162, ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 9001 Quality Management systems, as certified by TÜV Nord.

All our Glass Mineral Wool products have been awarded the DECLARE `Red List Free’ label. This allows product transparency disclosure that identifies where a product comes from, what it is made of, and where it goes at the end of its life. Having the ‘Red List Free’ label means that there are no ingredients in the product that are on the red list – including formaldehyde or phenol.

Environmental

Ceiling Roll (Loft Roll) contains no ozone-depleting substances or greenhouse gases. For further environmental information consult the relevant Environmental Product Declaration, available on our website.

Vapour resistivity

Ceiling Roll (Loft Roll) offers negligible resistance to the passage of water vapour and has a vapour resistivity of 5.00MNs/g.m.

Real Performance

Glass and Rock Mineral Wool are easier to install correctly than other insulants such as rigid boards because they adapt to any slight imperfections in the substrate and knit together, eliminating any air gaps. Evidence shows the absence of air gaps is crucial to achieving real performance in the relevant application.

Handling and storage

Ceiling Roll (Loft Roll) is easy to handle and install, being lightweight and easily cut to size, where necessary. It is supplied in polythene packs which are designed for short term protection only. For longer term protection on site, the product should be stored either indoors, or under cover and off the ground. Ceiling Roll should not be left permanently exposed to the elements.

ECOSE® Technology is a unique bio-based binder, that is used in the manufacture of all Glass Mineral Wool products from Knauf and the majority of their Rock Mineral Wool products, to bind insulation strands together.

ECOSE® Technology contains no added formaldehyde or phenol. It is made from natural raw materials that are rapidly renewable and is 70% less energy-intensive to manufacture than traditional binders, so it is more environmentally-friendly. Products made with ECOSE® Technology are soft to touch and easy to handle. They generate low levels of dust and VOCs and have been awarded the Eurofins Gold Certificate for Indoor Air Comfort.
